The new Accademia major gallery

The Venetian museums pole, Venetian Heritage Foundation and the world giant of digital technology, Samsung, signed in recent days in Rome an important agreement that will bring, along with the investment of 600thousand euros at the opening of 5 new halls of the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice at the end of April, coinciding with the opening of the Expo and the Biennale d’Arte.
With the new halls, previously restored by the Superintendence, the exhibition area of the Museum will extend from 5 to 10 thousand square meters and an estimated visitors will rise from the current 300 000 to 900 000 per year.

Taxes in Venice

Legislative Decree No. 23 of March 14, 2011 allowed Italian municipality to apply the tax on all overnight stays of non-residents in hotels and other residential .
The revenue is expected to finance projects in the tourism sector, maintenance, use and recovery of cultural assets and investments in local public services.

Palazzo Mocenigo: Fashion and Perfumes

Palazzo MocenigoPalazzo Mocenigo opened again to the public (the opening has been the 1st November 2013) with a completely new proposal, thanks also to the help of Pier Luigi Pizzi.
Thanks to the restoration many elements, furnitures, frescos and decoration of this wonderful building can be admired again by everybody.

The new exposition not only give you the chance to admire ancient drapes and clothes from ‘700, but also many other objects! This has been possible thanks to the collaboration of other venetians museums of Fondazione Musei Civici Veneziani.

Renovation of Scuola Grande Di San Marco

Scuola Grande Di San Marco Scuola Grande Di San Marco, part of the Civil Hospital of Venice, has been reopened after a long renovation.

Finally the wonderful Salone dell Colonne, Sala Capitolare and Sala dell’Albergo can be admired again by everybody.
This wonderful building is an opera of Mauro Codussi (the same architect who realized the Clock Tower in Piazza San Marco) who during the 1490 completed the facade and the wonderful internal stair (which is actually a reconstruction made during the ‘900).

Ca D OroSince few days, Ca’ D’Oro Museum promotes the last remaining days of the exposition “Da Giorgio Franchetti a Giorgio Franchetti. Collezionismi alla Ca’ D’Oro” with guided tours included in the rate of the ticket!
To be noticed that the exposition include “I Tesori del Ghetto di Venezia“, a wonderful collection of silver items restored by Venetian Heritage.
 
To be Remember also that next Saturday, 30th November 2013, the Gallery will be open also during  the evening, from 20.00 to 24.00. This is the first event dedicated to the theme “Misteri di Venezia”, accomplished with the association “Fili di Culture” and part of the National project “una Notte al Museo”.

2013 Venice’s Film Festival

Mostra del Cinema Venezia 2013 - www.venice-tourism.com The Venice Film Festival reaches this year its 70th Edition! The program is rich and varied and as always many Movie Stars are expected to come at the Lido di Venezia: George Clooney, James Franco, Matt Demon, Scarlett Johansson, Zac Efron.
 
The project this year is special because of the 70th Anniversary. The title is Venezia 70 – Future Reloaded: 70 Directors from all over the world have received the invitation to make a short film (lasting between 60 and 90 seconds) to celebrate the Anniversary of the Exhibition. All these 70 Directors attended at least once in the past editions of the Venice Film Festival.

Anthony Caro at Museo Correr

CARO-Red-Splash  www.venice-tourism.comThe Correr Museum in the Saint Mark’s frame is the place that will host till Sunday 27th October 2013 the exhibition dedicated to the living sculptor Anthony Caro.
 
Anthony Caro isn’t new to Venice, he took part to the Biennale of Arts in 1958, 1966 and 1999. In this particular year he displayed about thirty works that cover more than fifty years of career.

His favorite material is steel, but he experimented many other solutions such as bronze, wood, lead and paper.

Roy Lichtenstein at “Magazzini del Sale”

Roy LichtensteinThe “Magazzini del Sale” (Fondazione Vedova site), will host the exhibition dedicated to Roy Lichtenstein, opened until Nov. 23rd 2013
The exhibition will display 45 works amongst them sculptures, drawings, collages and models. This is the first time that Italy hosts such amount of works from this American Pop Art genius!
 
The exhibition is focused on the Artist’s sculptures. That’s one of the reasons why this show is so important, as you know very well that this Artist is known more for its paintings than everything else. The masterpieces come from “The Roy Lichtenstein Foundation”,  “The Roy Lichtenstein Estate of New York” and from various Museums and private collections.
