Correr Museum – Empress Elizabeth’s Rooms

In the magnificent St. Mark’s square you can find a place where extraordinary pieces of art are shown to the public and where a number of art exhibitions take place: Correr Museum.
One of the reasons for paying a visit is that of admiring the rooms which were occupied by Empress Elizabeth of Austria, the famous and beloved Sissi, during her first stay in Venice in 1856.

At The Correr Museum you can admire a fascinating self-portrait found by a few years and attributed to Titian Vecellio.
The drawing, on loan from a private collection, is one of the most original initiatives among the exhibitions organized in the Lagoon at this time, which allows the public to admire the representation of himself that the ‘big old’ wanted to consign to history.

CARO-Red-Splash  www.venice-tourism.comThe Correr Museum in the Saint Mark’s frame is the place that will host till Sunday 27th October 2013 the exhibition dedicated to the living sculptor Anthony Caro.
Anthony Caro isn’t new to Venice, he took part to the Biennale of Arts in 1958, 1966 and 1999. In this particular year he displayed about thirty works that cover more than fifty years of career.

His favorite material is steel, but he experimented many other solutions such as bronze, wood, lead and paper.
