The new Accademia major gallery

The Venetian museums pole, Venetian Heritage Foundation and the world giant of digital technology, Samsung, signed in recent days in Rome an important agreement that will bring, along with the investment of 600thousand euros at the opening of 5 new halls of the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice at the end of April, coinciding with the opening of the Expo and the Biennale d’Arte.
With the new halls, previously restored by the Superintendence, the exhibition area of the Museum will extend from 5 to 10 thousand square meters and an estimated visitors will rise from the current 300 000 to 900 000 per year.

Uomo Vitruviano at Accademia Gallery

The Vitruvian Man, a Leonardo Da Vinci’s opera, can be admired again after seven years!!!

It has been stored at Accademia Art Gallery in venice since 1822, when it has been bought by the Austrian Government from a private collectors (together with other 25 Leonardo’s drawings). The drawning show the proportion of the man according to the standards of Vitruvio Pollio (a roman Architect, 1st Century a.C.).

The opera has been made in 1487, it’s a reprentation of the proportions between the man and the geometry. Vitruvius tought a man’s body had to be the source of proportions for the Classical orders of architecture.

This opera will be shown at Accademia Museum just until the 10th January 2010. If you are in Venice in this period don’t loos the opportunity to take a look at the original one!!!
