During the period of the Biennale a lot of very important and interesting artists are exhibiting at the Giardini, at the Arsenale but also in all the town in different beautiful palaces.

The President of La Biennale di Venezia, Paolo Baratta, accompanied by the Director of the 54th International Art Exhibition, Bice Curiger, met on October 20th, 2010 the representatives of the participating countries, which for the very first time will include Govern d’Andorra, Saudi Arabia, Kingdom of Bahrain, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Republic of Rwanda, as well as Congo and India, which last participated respectively in 1968 and 1980.
Artist Lee Yong-Baek has been chosen to hold a solo presentation in the Korean Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale next year, announced by the Arts Council Korea.

With an itinerary through the three floors of Ca’ Pesaro – from the entrance hall and small room on the ground floor, to the monumental staircase, second floor and façade overlooking the Grand Canal – the exhibition offers forty works of art, in glass, bronze, steel, plastic, wood and stone, but also drawings, preparatory sketches and watercolours, spanning thirty years activity, from the 80s to nowadays, most of which have never been on show in Italy before.

Already anticipated by some of the artist’s works on display or “scattered” around the first floor, the exhibition covers all the vast space of the Museum’s second and shows large-sized canvases together with sculptures and other smaller sized works conceived by Marco Tirelli (Rome, 1956) especially for the museum.

Twentyone still lifes by Giorgio Morandi (Bologna, 1890 – 1964), some of which are from private collections and are on public display for the very first time. “Silent and humble” paintings in which the colours “vibrate with a slightly subdued brilliance that seems to come from within … a style of painting that belongs perfectly in the perceptive and mental space between the visible and invisible” (Francesco Poli, from the exhibition catalogue).

Three of Giorgione most famous works, The Old Lady (1506), The Naked (1508) and his most famous masterpiece, The Tempest (1507-08), will be on display for over an other month in one of Venice most unique buildings, Palazzo Grimani near Campo Santa Maria Formosa.
