Anthony Caro isn’t new to Venice, he took part to the Biennale of Arts in 1958, 1966 and 1999. In this particular year he displayed about thirty works that cover more than fifty years of career.

His favorite material is steel, but he experimented many other solutions such as bronze, wood, lead and paper.

His favorite material is steel, but he experimented many other solutions such as bronze, wood, lead and paper. Caro became an emblem of the British Sculpture with his two-dimensional metal elements, an influence for all the next generations of young artists. His works, influenced by his teacher Henry Moore, are a revolutionary assemblage. Welded and bolted together, painted in bright colors, his works are astracts but rich of ideal content.

Many works are displaied in this show, among them the most famous are “Red Splash” (1966), “Cadence” (1968/1972), “Garland” (1970) and the latest “River Song” (2011 – 2012).
